First I made a stab a multi-colored sgraffito (now that I've tried it again and it still didn't get great results I undestand why it's not a widely used technique). The odd antique affect was due to using an underglaze that wasn't a true underglaze so it bled through.

Early in the summer I got the idea that it would be fun to use sgraffito to make copies of some of the petroglyphs I'd photographed on our travels. So I made a series of test tiles using red clay to see what kinds of underglaze I should use. These are mostly just 2" tiles but they sure were fun to make.

Someday these will lead to something bigger, but what it would be wasn't clear the summer of 2019.
In the winter of 2020, I took another stab at the multi-colored sgraffito. And this time, all the colors bled through the top 2 layers of jade. I consider the technique a bust.
